Carolyn Anderson is a nationally recognized
watercolorist known for her distinctive impressionistic
style. Her paintings, reproductions and commemorative
posters have broadened the publicʼs perception of the
Brandywine tradition.
She earned her BFA degree from
Syracuse University where she received the Marion Jones
award- the universityʼs highest honor for
excellence in design.
She worked in New York as a
designer for the textile and wall coverings industry for
several years before returning to Wilmington, Delaware
to pursue her career as a professional artist.
Known as a master at depicting the festive atmosphere of
special events, Anderson was the first official poster
artist for the Wilmington Flower Market. Many other
event commissions have included the McDonaldʼs LPGA
Championship, Winterthurʼs Point-to-Point and the Tour
DuPont cycling races. She has created posters for some
of the worldʼs most famous marathons in nearly every
major city including Boston, New York, Chicago, San
Francisco and abroad, in London.
Although she paints in many locations including Italy,
France, California and Maine, Anderson could be
described as Wilmingtonʼs resident artist. She is a past
president of the Studio Group, a membership-based
organization founded in 1935. The group holds frequent
exhibits and solo shows at the Howard Pyle Studios,
where Anderson paints and gives watercolor workshops and
demonstrations. |
